Abstract: Two structurally simple rhodanine-based derivatives were synthesized and their UV-vis absorption spectra responses(in CH2Cl2-DMSO) on anions were examined. It was found that only fluoride can lead to remarkable spectrum changes.Job’s plot indicates a 1:1 stoichiometric relation between receptors and fluoride, which was also confirmed by 1H NMR titration. The interaction mode between fluoride and receptors may be attributed to either hydrogen bonding or deprotonation.
