Abstract: The modification of photocathode with platinum was carried out by vacuum coating, thermal decomposition and electrodeposition. The dye-sensitized nanocrystalline solar cell was assembled with photocathode modified platinum. The photocathodes were characterized by SEM.It is found that there were more defects and impurities in misproportion platinum film prepared by vacuum coating, porous structure, and organics remainders in the platinum films prepared by thermal decomposition and uniformity structure, few defects and little impurity in the film prepared by electrodeposition. The resistance of platinum films was measured,it was found that there was smaller resistance and better catalyzing performance for film prepared by electrodeposition than those by vacuum and thermal decomposition methods. The photoelectric conversion properties of dye-sensitized nanocrystalline solar cell was improved greatly by photocathode modified by platinum with electrodeposition and thermal decomposition.
