Abstract: The interaction of tetracycline(TC)-Cu(II) complex with DNA was studied with UV-Vis absorption spectrometry. The absorption spectrum studies indicate that DNA can interact with tetracyline(TC)-Cu(II) complex. The way of interaction between the complex and DNA varies in accordance with the types of complex and the concentration of DNA.If tetracycline interact with Cu(II) to form 1:1 complex, the complex can interact with DNA by way of intercalation when the concentration of DNA is lower; when the concentration of DNA is higher,in addition to interacting with DNA by way of intercalation, the complex can interact with DNA by other way. If tetracycline interact with Cu(II) to form 1:2 complex, the complex interact with DNA by way of intercalation mainly. That two kinds of the complex intercalate DNA all by way of tetracycline inserted in it.
