Abstract: The effects of solution acidity, light intensity, the presence of specific organic acids and their concentration on the photoreduction of Fe(Ⅲ)-5-Br-PADAP complex were studied.Preliminary investigation was carried out to probe into the reaction mechanism. It was found that Fe(Ⅲ)-5-Br-PADAP complex underwent photoreduction fast at pH 5.5 in HAc-NaAc buffer solution;intensifying the illumination would speed up the reaction;the presence of certain organic acids such as formic acid could promote the photoreduction while oxalic acid and malonic acid prohibited the reaction markedly;increasing the concentration of organic acids that promote the reaction could accelerate the photoreduction.
