Abstract: The photoreduction of MV2+ on the surface of nanometer-sized CdS was investigatedby means of ESR. Under illumination of the nanometer-sized CdS dispersion in 1.1×10-3mol/L MV2+ ethanol solution the photoreduction rate of MV2+ on CdS surface keeps constant and the dimerization rate of the photoreduction product MVobeys the law of secondorder reaction. The results obtained also show that the dissolved O2- in ethanol solution or the ionosorbed oxygen on CdS surface has inhibiting action on the photo reduction of MV2+.
