Abstract: 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide was synthesized by quaternization. The photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) was compared for electrolytes containing different concentrations of I,KI and iodine. After optizimed, the DSCs with the electrolyte (0.90 mol·L-1 I,0.50 mol·L-1 KI and 0.12 mol·L-1 I2 in GBL) gave short circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of 15.97 mA·cm-2,open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.71 V,and fill factor (FF) of 0.55,corresponding with the photoelectric conversion efficiency (η) of 6.34% under one Sun (Xenon lamp,AM1.5,100 mW·cm-2).
