Abstract: Using acetic acid as catalyzer and chelate,a sort of monodispersed, ellipsoidal and hollow B doped TiO2 nanoparticles is successfully prepared by Sol-gel method, which is based on an improved Sol-gel technique using boric acid triethylester,by controlling the hydrolysis of these precursors with an acetic acid. The TiO2 nanoparticles prepared were characterized by means of TG-DTA、XRD、XPS、UV-Vis、TEM and BET.The photocatalytic activity of the elaborated powders was studied following the degradation of Rhodamine B.The results showed that the photocatalytic activity of B doped TiO2 prepared by Sol-gel method is much higher than that of pure TiO2 particles. The most efficient degradation of Rhodamine B was found with TiO2 particles doped with 20% B in mole fraction and calcined at 450 ℃.Also the reason for the enhancement of the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 by B doping was discussed.
