The development of fluorescent chemodosimeters has recently emerged as an active research area of significant importance.Chemodosimeters are used to detect an analyte through a highly selective and usually irreversible chemical reaction between the dosimeter molecule and the target analyte with high sensitivity and rapid response.Herein,we reviewed the literatures of the last few years covering the chemodosimetric approach for detecting mercury(Ⅱ) ions.

The drug release behavior from the carrier is bound up with the carrier’s structure. In this paper,a series of poly(acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) hydrogels with different acrylamide/acrylic acid ratios have been successfully synthesized by aqueous polymerization. These co-polymers were characterized with FTIR technique to confirm the co-polymer formation.Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching(FRAP) technique was used to investigate the diffusion behavior of fluorescein isothiocyanate labelled bovine serum albumin(FITC-BSA) in these co-polymer hydrogels, and a confocal laser scanning microscopy was applied to obtain high resolution images in real time. The results showed that the diffusion coefficient of FITC-BSA was influenced by the ratio between the acrylamide and acrylic acid in co-polymer and the co-polymer hydrogels synthesized may have potential application in controlled protein delivery system.

Eight highly colored and photoluminescent mono-or di-core-substituted naphthalene diimide(NDIs) have been rationally designed and synthesized from 2,6-dibromonaphthalene diimide(DBI) via a stepwise nucleophilic substitution of two bromine atoms by heterocyclic secondary amine.Electronic absorption and fluorescence studies revealed that the amine substituents with different electron-donating abilities can lead to the NDIs with tunable absorption and emission properties, falling in the preferable region to long wavelength(λmaxabs: 509—580 nm;λmaxem: 565—638 nm;ΦF: 0.21—0.54;Stokes shift: 36—77 nm).

N-doped TiO2 was obtained from nanotube titanic acid and aqueous ammonia by hydrothermal method, and then gold-modified N-doped TiO2 was prepared using deposition-precipitation method to deposit Au on the surface of N-doped TiO2.The physicochemical properties of resultant N-doped or Au/N-doped TiO2 samples were investigated by means of transmission electron microscopic(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),diffuse reflectance spectra(DRS),and electron spin resonance(ESR).The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by monitoring oxidation of propylene under visible light irradiation. Results indicated that N-TiO2 and Au/N-TiO2 showed obviously the visible light(λ≥420 nm) photocatalytic activity. The visible light sensitization was ascribed to the formation of single-electron-trapped oxygen vacancies.

Monitoring multiple physiological parameters by using the fluorescence method requires the loading of several distinct fluorescent probes which are excitable at the same fixed wavelength with well-separated emissions. Most current fluorescent probes only have small Stoke’s shift(50-90 nm),which limits their application in detecting multiple species simultaneously. In this work,we report a molecular probe based on a new design of receptor-Fluorophore-1-Spacer-Fluorophore-2(RFSF).The RFSF probe has a large Stoke’s shift, which is complementary to the traditional probes in detecting dual species. In this molecule, the fluorophore 1 is naphthalene and the fluorophore 2 is anthracene and the molecule can be used to detect proton. In the absence of proton, when the naphthalene is excited at 280 nm,a weak emission at 420 nm from anthracene due to energy transfer is observed. The Stoke’s shift was 140 nm,which was much greater than general fluorescent sensors with a single fluorophore, such as 60 nm for aminemethylnaphthalene. When exposed to protons, the fluorescence of anthracene at 420 nm increases. The results showed suggest that a new family of fluorescent RFSF sensors can be synthesized for biologically important chemicals, including metal ions, metabolites, proteins, and different biomarkers in the future. These valuable assay systems would benefit greatly from a wider choice of fluorescence probes with the same excitation wavelength.

SiO2 nanoparticals/silicone resin composite coatings were prepared by spray-coating,which exhibit superhydrophobicity.Effects of the contents of SiO2 and silicone resin were investigated preliminarily on the hydrophobic properties of coatings. The results indicate that the water contact angle of composite coatings increases with increase of the content of SiO2.When the mass percentage of SiO2 is more than 3wt%,the composite coatings exhibit superhydrophobicity.Meanwhile the mass percentage of silicone resin is 7wt%,the composite coating has a high water contact angle of 151.6 and a small sliding angle of nearly 0.The surface morphologies of coatings were observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).It was found that the superhydrophobic composite coating has a rough micro-nanoscale hierarchical structure, with all near-spherical papillas(d≈5 μm) covered by aggregated nanoparticles(d≈50 nm).Such lotus leaf like micro-nano hierarchical structure in combination with the low surface energy of silicone resin renders the coating surface superhydrophobicity.

The critical micelle concentration, micelle aggregation number, micelle micropolarity and micelle microviscosity of sodium alkylbenzenesulfonates with the interfering groups have been determined by steady-state fluorescence and electron spin resonance. When the number of the interfering groups increases, the cmc,Nagg and the micelle microviscosity decrease, the micelle micropolarity increases.

Two porphyrin monomers 5-(4-acryloyloxyphenyl)-10,15,20-tris(4-carboxylphenyl)porphyrinate zinc(Ⅱ)(ZnAOTCPP) and 5-(4-acryloyloxyphenyl)-10,15,20-tris(4-methoxycarboxylphenyl)porphyrinate zinc(Ⅱ)(ZnMeAOTCPP) were synthesized, and their corresponding amphiphilic polymers with acrylamide(AM) were prepared.Compared with corresponding porphyrin monomer, the polymer containing tricarboxyl-porphyrin units displayed a new absorption band and a new fluorescence emission band in water, while the one containing trimethoxycarboxyl-porphyrin units exhibited an additional new absorption band and fluorescence emission band at even longer wavelength region. The variations of spectroscopic properties of porphyrin units in polymers with increasing concentrations of polymers in aqueous media indicated that the self-assemble behavior of polymers had intermolecular association and intramolecular association two stages. Moreover, the polymer containing trimethoxycarboxyl-porphyrin units showed larger ability in the formation of porphyrin association complexes than the one containing tricarboxyl-porphyrin units.
