Abstract: The isomerization and photoconductivity of polyphenyacetylene have been studied in this paper. The cis-trans isomerization experiment indicated that the conjugation length of the trans-structure is longer than that of cis-structure, as a results, its conductivity and photo/dark ratio are higher than that of the cis-PPA. In contrast to the trans-structure, the cis-PPA showed very small photoconductivity so that it was not able to find out the difference in this experimental condition.
