Abstract: A relative rigid naphthalene-anthracene supramolecular ensemble has been designed and synthesized via 2-ureido-4[1H]-pyrimidinone quadruple hydrogen-bonded module.Steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence profiles demonstrate that the singlet-singlet energy transfer occurs effectively from naphthalene to anthracene moieties in ensemble UPNa? UPAn.The rate constant and efficiency for photoinduced energy transfer in ensemble UPNa稶PAn is much greater than that of theoretical calculation through Förster mechanism. Therefore, the singlet-singlet energy transfer process takes place via Förster mechanism and "through AADD quadruple hydrogen bond" mechanism in this ensemble.

Key words: energy transfer, naphthalene, anthracene, 2-ureido-4[1H]-pyrimidinone quadruple hydrogen bonds
