Abstract: Critical micelle concentration(CMC) and micelle aggregation number(N) of the four branched surfactants sodium Guerbet tetradecyl polyoxyethylene ether carboxylate were determined by steady-state fluorescence probe method in which pyrene was used as fluorescence probe and benzophenone as quencher. The results showed that the CMC of this kind of surfactants can be determined by steady-state fluorescence probe, which fairly approached to that determined by surface tension method.Critical micelle concentration(CMC) and micelle aggregation number(N) decreased with the increasing of number of ether oxide units for all four surfactants, while the micropolarity of the micelles was less sensitive to the increasing of number of ethylene oxide units.
