Abstract: Critical micelle concentration (CMC), aggregation numbers and micropolarity of four sodium branched-alkyl benzene sulfonates were determined by steady-state fluorescence probe method in which pyrene was used as fluorescence probe and benzophenone was used as quencher. The comparison was performed between the CMC results obtained by steady-state fluorescence probe method and that obtained by surface tension method. The Mulliken charge distributions were computed at HF level with 6-31G* basis set.
