Abstract: The sensitized photolysis of diazonium salts by several new thioxanthone compounds has been investigated in this work. Results indicated that the sensitized reaction was realized by the route of electron-transfer. The substituents in diazonium salts and the solvent used possess important effect on the photolysis of diazonium salts. It is interesting to find that the rate of photo-polymerization of MMA initiated by this system was different from the rate of photolysis. This phenomenon was discussed briefly.
