Abstract: A novel type of water-soluble polymeric thioxanthone photoinitiator containing glucamine (PTX-GA) was synthesized by introducing thioxanthone (TX) moieties and glucamine (GA) group into the same polyacylate chain.Through changing the proportion of thioxanthone and coinitiator amine, three kinds of macrophotoinitiators were synthesized.Photopolymerizations of acrylamide (AAM) initiated by these macrophotoinitiators were studied through photo-dilatometer.The result show that this kind of water-soluble polymeric photoinitiator can initiate polymerization acrylamide (AAM) effectively in absence of coinitiator amine, and might be used in biomaterials such as dental materials.
